At a young age she discovered that music was her passion and living in NY ignited her creative insight fueled by experiences as a theater student and stories from a life immersed in the city. It began with lessons on a soundboard with an old-school tape deck, a way for a cultured Brooklyn kid, ripped out of her element and placed into the country life of Pennsylvania, to pass the time. From that moment on she wrote, and over the next 12 years created countless songs and poems of a young girl struggling to be understood until she received a scholarship to attend AMDA and found her self-back in New York where she truly felt alive. Education continued with the New School University with a major in Creative art therapy and psychology to add to her musical theater experience. She continued her masters degree in education. Recently Carly worked with Teaching Artist AKIR, a talented producer/rapper who’s recent performance includes the Rock The bells Concert with Immortal technique, and Art start: One Mic volunteer up and coming rap artist Che Grand of Brooklyn, Spirit Child, Jessie Killgus, and Mc K~Swift. Later Carly became a teaching artist in homeless outreach shelters . There she worked with children from the ages of 5-20 in music, theater, and art. Soon after she was given the opportunity to direct the Emerging Artist In Residency Program, a branch of One mic.
